Today, we are going to share with you our "Big Why". We want you to know exactly why we do what we do here at Hello Beautiful Health.
Truth is, nearly every woman out there has had some sort of negative experience with food. Ourselves included.
So many women feel guilty and anxious about food, they value their self-worth by the number on the scale, and it keeps them from enjoying life and having the confidence to pursue their dreams - whether that be a relationship or a career.
We want this all to stop!! We are committed that every woman be able to live to her fullest potential, to contribute her unique gift to the world and not let food, her body image, or her health stop that from happening!
We want you to realize that even the unimaginable is possible for you, darling. It's completely possible to love and respect your body, to radiate with confidence, to enjoy eating without guilt and to feel vibrantly healthy without restricting the foods you love.
We know this is possible, because we get to experience it firsthand everyday and have helped many other women do it too.
Curious why we have an unstoppable fire under our bums? Our commitment is as strong as it is, because we have both personally been through it all and back again.
For me, Marisa, that began when I was about 9 or 10. I had a doctor who told me I was overweight and needed to start watching what I ate and how much I exercised. I remember leaving that Doctor's office furious, telling my parents she was mean and I never wanted to go back. They didn’t make me go back, but the damage was already done. It was in that moment that I began to think something was wrong with me, that needed to be fixed. From that day on I became obsessed with “being healthy”, which was actually being on every diet in the book through my 20s. Eventually , I developed stomach issues. I was experiencing pain and bloating everyday. I read an uncountable number of articles about gut health and I cut everything out of my diet, gluten, carbs, dairy, nuts, raw vegetables, and it was completely unpredictable, nothing worked. I became afraid to eat. It took 4 years to heal my stomach issues. It was through this journey I realized how powerful our mind is and how important it is to listen to our bodies to tell us what we need.
For me, Hannah, it was a little different. When I was in high school I believed if I were thinner I would be happy, then it became even thinner and I would be happy, and thinner. I began to starve myself and meticulously restrict what I ate. How worthy I was was completely dependent on the scale so I would weigh myself on an hour by hour basis if I could. For the next 10 years of my life, I was obsessed with my weight, there was no such thing as thin enough and my self-love tank was running on fumes. I realized a few things. 1. I had no idea what self-love was but I needed to learn it fast. 2. I had to stop looking outside of myself for happiness and begin to look inward 3. I had to take responsibility for how I treated myself, my health and well-being included.
The two of us came from completely different experiences, but what healed us was similar. It wasn’t until we really learned to listen to our natural body cues and deeply love ourselves that we found peace with food and reached a weight that felt good. By giving ourselves unconditional permission to eat, to love, to experiment, to say no, to say yes and to prioritize happiness, we were able to set ourselves free.
We created Hello Beautiful Health to empower women to heal their relationship with food, to end the cycle of women hating themselves, their bodies and the food they eat because of what our society tells us is “healthy” or “beautiful.”
There is nothing more rewarding than watching our clients take a stand for themselves. For some this is losing weight, for some it is accepting their body the way that it is, for others it is to be free from the number on the scale, to be able to wake up in the morning, look in the mirror and feel beautiful.
That's why we have developed the Eat For Love Course that teaches women how to respect their bodies, listen to their natural body cues and love themselves unconditionally.
