Balance... ahhhhhhh balance. Sweet, sweet balance. In today's fast paced go-getter lifestyle, balance has become something many of us question. Is it real? Is it possible? Can I really have a successful career AND a thriving relationship? Can I really eat this cupcake AND have my bikini body?
It all comes down to one basic principle: yin and yang // the masculine and feminine. We are innately designed to crave and seek balance.
Have you ever binged on an entire chocolate bar and then craved something salty? Or what about the famous after dinner sweet tooth? If you've spent all day in your heels you're probably dreaming about your yoga pants by nightfall. And after a networking event... can we get some silence please?! This sacred balancing act can be observed in every category of our lives. We LOVE balance and without even realizing it we are achieving it constantly.
So is balance possible?? Absolutely, beautiful!
By becoming aware of this principal you are able to harness the natural flow of energy throughout your day as opposed to forcing it and fighting with it.
Today we want to give you a breakdown of exactly how to use this ancient principal to make exercising something you not only love, but you actually crave! And as an extra bonus you can use this proven technique in every area of your life! This might just be exactly what you've been waiting for, gorgeous.
Let's get movin'!!
To unlock the code, we must understand how to dance between the masculine and feminine. To clarify we're not talking about men and women. We're talking about the masculine energy and the feminine energy. We all carry both within us. Throughout our day and throughout our week, we are constantly bouncing from one to the other.
Here are examples of daily activities and exercises that fall into each category. Please note that what represents the masculine and the feminine could be unique person to person, day to day, but here is a general idea to get you started:
Masculine Daily Activities:
controlling // rigid //contractive
- holding meetings
- working on the house
- problem solving
- disciplining children or employees
- working against the clock
- following orders
Feminine Daily Activities:
flowing // loving // expansive
- creative expression
high intensity // challenge
- high cardio bicycling
- high intensity interval training
- kick boxing
- gym time
- chopping lumber
calming // restorative
- walking in nature
- tai chi
Now that you have an idea of the two sacred categories, complete the following exercise to crack your personal code to finally fall in love with exercising:
- Write down what regular daily activities you do that represent the feminine and which represent the masculine.
- Write down what exercises you enjoy that harness the feminine and which enhance the masculine.
- Begin to ask yourself the following questions this week:
- If I have a predominately masculine day does a feminine exercise sound more pleasurable? If I have a predominately feminine day does a masculine exercise sound more pleasurable?
- If I did a masculine exercise yesterday does a feminine exercise sound nice today?
- If I did feminine exercises the last few days, does a masculine exercise sound nice today?
By tuning in and having exercises you enjoy in both categories, something will always sound appealing! It's about listening and observing rather than fighting and forcing. Exercising is a time to love yourself and give yourself the much needed break you deserve. Honor yourself by going with your natural flow. You can use this same technique in every area of life: work, love, food, etc. For instance break-up your to do list into masculine and feminine categories and alternate between them to keep you inspired and upbeat! Understand what activities fall into each category so you understand how to down-shift when you need to.
