The holidays are here so it's easier to see why you're sabotaging your healthy lifestyle. I mean, who can help it when literally every where you go there's a bowl of candy sitting on the counter. You're tempted because you shouldn't, but what the hell one won't hurt (even though this is your fourth "one" today. ;)
I know you're going to make it through the holidays and you're just waiting for all of the temptation to go away, but we know that there's always "something" that gets in the way of your healthy lifestyle. Some event, some vacation or trip, a gift, a girls night out, National donut day. Let's be honest, something always comes up. Then somehow having one donut, one treat, one dessert turns into "falling off the wagon" for a week, a month, or until you can't stand the way you look anymore!
Are you ready to end the cycle of being really good and then losing it? Are you ready to bring more balance to your lifestyle? To not have to worry about eating "perfectly" all the time or losing control? To keeping a consistent routine with your good behaviors? I think you are!
Today, I'll give you one of those simple ways you're sabotaging your healthy lifestyle and I want you to join us next Tuesday, December 13th for a FREE webinar that Amy Krasner, Holistic Nutritionist of Nourished Balance and I are hosting about the Top 8 Ways you Sabotage your Healthy Lifestyle and how to stop it from happening. We've put together a list of the most common ways we see women stop themselves from having the healthy lifestyle they desire and how to stop sabotage in it's tracks!! (Sign up here!).
So let's get to it! The number one way you sabotage your healthy lifestyle. . . .
Social Media While You're In Bed
Okay, that's probably only part of the problem, but let's talk about why this sabotages your healthy lifestyle. We all need energy, we need energy to exercise, we need energy to get up a few minutes early to meditate, we need energy from sleep to keep our hunger hormones under control.
Checking your Facebook, swiping through Tinder or Bumble, or scrolling through Instagram is sabotaging your ability to go to sleep!! Here's why:
1. The light on your phone stimulates you! It's artificially keeping you up. So instead of feeling sleepy and cozy in your bed, you're wide awake. Here's a tip: don't turn off your overhead light and stare at your phone in the dark. It will keep that light from stimulating you!
2. Seeing something you don't want to on your social media feed (your ex boyfriend, your ex best friend, an embarrassing post from a family member), can give you a little anxiety or disappointment keeping you awake at night or ruining your day before it starts in the morning!
And if you're not sleeping, say goodbye to your morning meditation or exercise routine because you'll be hitting snooze. And say hello to a high anxiety morning because you couldn't sleep off your stress hormones! Instead of swiping or scrolling in bed, do it while sitting on your couch with the lights on.
When you're ready for bed, go to sleep and put your phone away as far from your head as possible (so you're not tempted to check the time or your notifications in the middle of the night).
You can do it! I believe in you!
See you at the free webinar on the 13th!
