This past weekend I watched the movie "The Secret" and the premise of this book is that our thoughts create our reality, our thoughts dictate our feelings and our feelings dictate our actions which impact our results. This makes it really important that we have power over our thoughts instead of letting them operate on autopilot (i.e. old brain patterns from past experiences).
So how does this relate to food, your body, your self-confidence, and your happiness?? (Since that's what we always discuss here at Hello Beautiful Health).
Let me explain. I want to ask you if you say any of these things:
I'm out of control.
When you say any of these things, it automatically lowers your energy. You can feel a drop in energy even as you read those words.
That's the connection between our thoughts and our feelings. We automatically feel bad. Now how does that relate to your actions:
I'm fat. - Actions: You're on and off diets. You're really good for a week and then you binge. You can't motivate yourself to exercise.
I'm bloated. - You don't want to go anywhere. you don't want to be in front of people. You stay home and don't have fun.
I'm gross. "Same as I'm bloated"
I'm out of control. - You try to control what you eat, what you do, and everyone in your life.
I'm broke. - You binge spend. You can't save money. You don't feel good going to work and you don't perform well. You're in a constant state of anxiety and you can't sleep.
I'm ugly. - You date way below your standards.
I'm stupid. - You're afraid to make a suggestion at work and can never get ahead.
I'm emotional. You cry and cry and cry and can't stop. And then you cry some more because you can't stop.
I'm unlovable. - You put up with guys who don't deserve your attention and everyone walks all over you.
You get the picture. . . Our beliefs, especially negative ones have us take actions that bring us down even more. It's a crazy cycle!
But let me remind you that you're human and you're not the only one!
I hope you're convinced that it's actually your beliefs that keep you stuck where you are and unless you change them you'll stay stuck!
So today I want to give you a tool to change your mindset.Every time you find yourself saying one of those phrases I want you to think of a color and an animal. Like Purple Otter.
Now I know this sounds crazy, but it's going to completely alter your brain pattern and the energy of your thought. It might even make you laugh!
Just try it this week and see if you can get yourself out of your cycle of negative energy! Sending you lots of love and light!
