Let's face it, when it comes to committing to a strict diet, we all have moments of "weakness." But I would like to challenge this whole idea of perfection and "weakness."
Here's the scoop: we love to make bold health goals, especially right after finishing a whole pint of Ben & Jerry's ice cream! We've all been there, standing in front of the freezer with our leg in tree pose having "just a bite" of ice cream and before we know it, we're scraping the bottom hoping no one will ever know.
Then we make a grand statement like, "That's it, starting tomorrow I'm having zero sweets, not even dark chocolate for a whole month!" Chances are this declaration only lasts, at best, a week. Then something comes up like our best friend's birthday and it would be totally rude if we didn't have any of her double chocolate birthday cake. It tastes so delicious, but we can hardly enjoy it because of how guilty we feel!
I have some great news for you, beautiful! You don't have to live this way anymore! I want to give you one of my secret weapons when it comes to successfully following my diet. It's called the 90:10 rule.
The 90:10 Rule:
- Eat the foods you know you should eat 90% of the time.
- Allow yourself the freedom of eating the foods you want to eat, but know you shouldn't eat 10% of the time.
- Enjoy the heck out of the 10% you let yourself slide on! This is the most important part! Close your eyes, savor every moment of the sensations, and don't allow your sassy bully to make you feel guilty!!
- Remember it is 90:10 not 50:50.
I hope this helps you find even more pleasure in treating your body beautifully!! Can you relate with needing a little more freedom in your diet? Do you think the 90:10 rule could work for you? Let us know in the comments below!
