Let’s start this year off right! We’ve all had our share of chocolate, sweets, and other normally no- no- foods this holiday season. Who can say no to the home cooked meals of your family?!? We decided to share with you a simple, no hunger or liquid only diet necessary. If you’ve never done a detox, one of the principle reasons to do one is to rid your body of all of the toxins in your body from processed foods, sugar, and alcohol. This includes foods that you know you have an allergy or sensitivity to.
In order to do that for one day you’ll eat only unprocessed plant-based foods. That means no processed foods like bread or cheese. And for this detox we’re also recommending no meat or fish for the day. You’ll also want to drink plenty of water, we recommend a gallon over the course of the day, which helps you to flush your system and rehydrate you! So here is what for the foods for the day:
Green Smoothie (Spinach or Kale, Lemon, Pineapple, Apple). You can buy one from a juice or smoothie place but make sure there aren’t any added milks (almond milk, soy milk, etc.) or processed proteins like (soy, whey, hemp, etc.)
Salad - choose a bean as your protein source (Chickpeas, black beans, kidney beans), add seeds or nuts for texture (walnuts, sunflower seeds, pistachios, almonds, etc.), use avocado and lemon juice as dressing, top with shaved carrots, jicama, or a any fruit or vegetable.
Fruit, vegetable, seed, nuts or another juice or smoothie!
Vegetable casserole or sauteed casserole - We know at this point you’re going to want something hearty or warm to satisfy you! Check out our casserole recipe and feel free to add any vegetables you favor or saute your favorite recipes with lots of garlic!
Basically, eat any fruit or vegetable you want all day and drink water throughout the day! That’s easy to remember, right? If often forget to drink water during the day, set an alarm clock to go off every water to remind yourself to drink a cup of water. Have fun with it! Try new foods and get creative!
