With Thanksgiving next week and the holidays closely following, we have been doing a lot of thinking about our families and what we are grateful for this year.
We are so grateful for the journey we are embarking on as we expand Beautiful Body and share the gift of wellness with women out there like you! We are thankful for both our family and friends who have supported us this year to make so much magic happen!
Of course we have to also acknowledge, that everything hasn’t been perfect this year, because that is part of the journey. If everything were perfect, always, would we cherish the moments that are? Would we be able to grow and expand ourselves in new ways? Probably not. We have to appreciate the journey, the ups and the downs, the challenges, the upsets, and the miracles all the same because they give us the opportunity to see how truly amazing we really are!
We want you to keep this in mind this week as you approach Thanksgiving. The holidays can be your favorite time of year with your family or it can be a difficult time. Either boat that you’re in, you are not the only one. The holidays bring back all kinds of thoughts, feelings, and emotions, both positive and negative that can really impact the time we spend with our families.
Sitting down at the Thanksgiving table may be something that you’re looking forward to or something you might be totally and completely terrified of! We want to share with you a little gratitude and acknowledgement exercise you can share with your family over the holidays! You can actually use this amazing exercise anywhere, with your friends, family, co-workers, by phone, during a meeting. We promise it will touch you and those around you more than you could ever imagine!
Here is how you give the gift of gratitude + acknowledgement:
You will be the one to start the exercise. Begin by choosing someone in your family and start by saying
I really want to acknowledge you for being...
And then share all of the ways this person is that you appreciate, that you love, that you cherish, that make you proud, and that make you smile. (If you’re with them, look them in the eyes).
I, Marisa, really want to acknowledge you Hannah for being. . . generous, loving, compassionate, creative, powerful, beautiful, hardworking, sweet, smart, vulnerable, for caring for people and their well-being, for taking initiative, for being a light for others, and for being so amazing to work with.
I, Hannah, really want to acknowledge you Marisa for being... supportive, kind, selfless, understanding, thoughtful, always positive, dependable, motivating, committed, inspiring to myself and the world, a dream chaser, someone who never gives up, and a woman who has an infinite desire to learn, grow, teach and share!
You’ll acknowledge everyone in the group, then let someone else in the group acknowledge everyone next. Continue this process until each person has had an opportunity to acknowledge everyone.
This exercise will, no kidding, cause miracles in your life. Remember, the most important piece is that you get to acknowledge others. So if you can’t get your family to join you in the exercise, or you’re not going to see them for the holidays, just try acknowledging them and see what opens up! It’s perfect whichever way it happens.
So, lastly, we would like to say we are grateful for all of you and we want to acknowledge you for supporting us, for being a stand for yourself and your own well-being, and for being beautiful, loving, and powerful!
